Ana Bejerano, band member of the Mocedades, dies at the age of 61

Due to digestive problems, the singer Ana Bejarano passed away at the age of 61. She replaced the legendary singer Amaya Uranga, Mocedades‘s iconic voice in the 1980s.

“The artist has not overcome a serious problem in the digestive system for which she was admitted on 11 December (at the Urdúliz Hospital, in Vizcaya). The funeral is scheduled for Monday 10 in January at 19: 00 in the Church of Santa Ana, in his hometown of Las Arenas de Getxo ”, reported a statement.

Bejarano remained active in the world of music outside of Mocedades, a group to which he belonged to 1985 (when she was only 24 years) up to 1993.

She was also part of El Consorcio, a group formed by some members of Mocedades when there were legal problems for the name .

According to the Spanish newspaper El País, in 2018, the singer returned to Mocedades (under the baton of Javier Garay), and participated in a wide tour with which the band celebrated its five decades on stage in Spain last year.

An admirer of great jazz figures, Bejarano used to sing songs that made greats Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, among other celebrities of the genre.

During his time at Mocedades she appeared in the albums Colores, Sobrevivremos and Íntimamente.

She recorded alongside Amaya Uranga on the album Lliura Urdinak, and just four years ago she promoted a jazz, bossa nova and ballads album called Solitude.
