Authorities in Virginia charged a teenager for allegedly setting fire to the hair of another minor 13 years old.

The facts are reported Wednesday at John Rolfe Middle School. The Henrico Fire Marshal’s Office intervened in the case. The suspect faces charges of causing an unlawful injury.

According to the account of the victim’s mother to WWBT, her son remained in the room during lunch due to the restrictions imposed by COVID when the The alleged assailant approached him from behind while he was throwing his food tray.

Supposedly, the attacker lit a lighter and the fire reached the victim’s hair, the ear and the neck.

A photo shows the 8th grader’s skull visibly burned and hairless, as well as part of his ear.

“He was hysterical; he looked scared,” described the parent. “His emotional and mental pride is broken,” he added.

The mother also alleged that the school administration was reluctant to report the case to criminal authorities.

It is not clear what led to the attack on the minor who suffered second and third degree burns.

The case will be heard in juvenile court.
