NEW YORK – A woman died this Saturday after being pushed onto the subway tracks at the central Times Square station in Manhattan, by a man who had already been arrested , reported local media.

The attack took place around 9: 30 am , was apparently random and the victim was run over by the R line train that was arriving at the platform at the time, police sources told the New York Daily News.

The author of the crime, aged 61 and apparently homeless, fled to the south of Manhattan on another train, but later confessed what that he had made to the Traffic Police and is in custody, pick up that medium.

Just a week ago, local and state authorities announced that they would reinforce police supervision in the subway and would send specialist teams to deal with the large presence of homeless people and n the cars and stations.

The number of subway passengers has fallen in recent months due to the pandemic, but also due to the perception of greater danger in the underground system, where they produce attacks frequently.
