The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office (Texas) reported that Jean Ramírez, bullpen catcher for the Rays of Tampa Bay, took his own life.

The authorities found the corpse of the Puerto Rican last Monday, near his family’s residence in Fort Worth. Three days later the suicide was confirmed.

The Rays subsequently published the statement of the relatives on their social networks de Ramírez, who thank the support received by the organization.

“The loss of our son has been the most painful experience we have ever had. Unfortunately, sometimes we don’t see the signs. Fighting in silence is not right “, the message reads.

In this sense, they added: “It is our commitment to honor the life of our son by helping other families. No parent should have to endure the loss of their child.”

“We are very grateful to the organization of the Tampa Bay Rays, whom we consider our family, for their love and support. Our son felt loved by all of you”, concluded the family.

Career of Jean Ramírez

Jean Ramírez, of 28 years old, was born in Bayamón (Puerto Rico) and studied high school in Fort Worth.

Before serving as a bullpen catcher in the Major Leagues in 2019 , played three years in the minor league system of Tampa Bay.

“He brought so much passion and energy every day to our clubhouse and bullpen, and his love for the Rays and baseball was evident for everyone who interacted with him,” lamented Rays manager Kevin Cash.

The pilot concluded: “He had a big heart and a contagious smile. We extend our deep condolences to his family and friends. Jean will be missed”.
