Puerto Rico suffered a violent weekend, registering 11 murders, among which that of two men in a bar in Santurce, the most center of the Caribbean capital.
The Puerto Rico Police reported this Monday through a statement that agents assigned to the Santurce Precinct are investigating a double murder reported on Sunday night, in events that occurred in the Pa Gufiar bar, located on Calle Cerra, in the district of Santurce.
According to preliminary information, the authorities were alerted through the 9-1-1 Emergency System of some shots and Upon arrival at the scene of the events, the agents located the bodies of two men with several gunshot wounds that caused them to die on the spot.
Related to these events, two unidentified men were injured by gunshots and were transported to the emergency room of the Hospital Centro Médicoof Río Piedras in critical condition.
At the moment the cause of the events is unknown.
Furthermore, in the early hours of today an anonymous caller reported multiple detonations in incidents that occurred on the highway 9931, in front of the Lions Club, in the municipality of San Lorenzo.
The authorities located the body of a man lying on the pavement and a gunshot wound, who was transported to the Hima hospital in Caguas in stable condition.
In another incident, the Police investigate a murder in events that occurred on Borinquén Avenue, in front of Antonio Barceló Square, in San Juan.
The authorities were alerted through the 9-1 Emergency System -1 about a suspicious situation, so Police officers went to the scene, where they found a man with several gunshot wounds.
The individual, who at this time has not been identified, he was transported to the emergency room of the Río Piedras Medical Center Hospital, where he died while receiving medical care.
Crime is a serious social problem that has plagued Puerto Rican society for many years and that periodically registers “peaks” that highlight this scourge.
Most of the violent deaths are related to settling scores between criminal gangs that dispute the control of the points of sale of drugs on the streets of the island.
