On Monday, FIFA held the The Best awards gala in Zurich, Switzerland, which rewards, among other things, the best footballer of the 2021. While it is true that Robert Lewandowski kept the distinction, another one who drew attention was Lionel Messi but because of the look he showed at the award ceremony.
Messi, who was included in the ideal XI of the ceremony, appeared through a camera from his residence in Paris due to the COVID crisis and while the rest of the team members were with his best look, the Argentine appeared in a simple white shirt.
The position of the PSG player did not go under the table and it was the Internet users who made fun of his appearance with memes on social networks, one of them even comparing him to “a grandmother”.
Others made reference to how little Messi could care about the ceremony, which would explain the simple clothing he wore.
For their part, others decided to classify him as “the best of all” even to dress in home clothes.
The truth is that despite the ridicule towards Messi, the Argentine managed to enter the FIFA ideal XI for the fifteenth consecutive time in an achievement that he shares with Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, the award for the best player of the competition was snatched away by Robert Lewandowski who had also won the edition that commemorated the best player of the year 2020.
