A Tennessee woman was arrested for faking the death of her 12 year-old autistic son and leaving him in a motel room, according to reports authorities.

Vanessa Blanchard, 39 years old, will face charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and false impression of death , as reported by WZTV.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by WKRN, Blanchard was approached by a school resource officer from New Providence Middle School in Clarksville on 29 in October about your child’s absence. Blanchard allegedly told the officer that her son had died of a seizure two days earlier.

“The children were so upset that the teachers were crying on the phone with the parents,” mother Alicia Maslo told WSMV-TV.

“My son came home crying, hugging me, talking about how he couldn’t believe he was gone. He told me: ‘I just saw him, I don’t understand why he’s gone’.

After learning of the alleged death, the boy’s school helped raise money for his funeral at Sykes Funeral Home, WSMV reported. School officials then contacted the funeral home to donate the funds, but were told that no funeral arrangements had been made for the boy, reports WKRN.

According to the court order, the school approached Blanchard, who told them that the boy’s autopsy was still pending.

Later, the police determined that on November 16, the child’s school-issued laptop was active at the Vacation Motor Motel. When they got there, the boy was found alive and alone inside a motel room, WSMV reports.

Blanchard told police that she left her son alone at the hotel for the past two weeks and checked on him every day or every other day, according to WKRN.

“It’s the most disgusting thing I could have ever heard,” Maslo told WSMV. “I could never imagine my son was gone, let alone lie about it.”

Blanchard’s court appearance is scheduled for 16 January, according to the television station. She is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a bond of $5,000 dollars.
