The winter storm, which affected the southern states of the US over the weekend and has moved through the Northeast in recent hours, has left thousands of people without electricity and many flights have been cancelled.

According to the forecast of the country’s Weather Service, the storm is expected to continue moving north this Monday and leave intense snow in areas of the northeastern United States, the Central Appalachians and the Lower Great Lakes (Ontario, Huron, and Erie).

The storm is forecast to move into southeastern Canada on Tuesday.

The most affected states this Monday are North Carolina, with 30,362 users without electricity; South Carolina, with 24,171; Georgia with 24,146; and West Virginia, with 24,132; and Pennsylvania, with 20,132 .

The most impacted airport is Charlotte, North Carolina, with 209 cancellations, followed by Reagan National, in Washington DC, with 79, and the Newark Liberty, in New Jersey, with 59.

Furthermore, the railway company Amtrak has canceled several trains today in the northeast of the US, such as the one that connects the US capital with New York or the one that operates between Richmond (Virginia) and Boston.
