body-of-latina-from-california-who-disappeared-in-december-found-in-aqueduct

LOS ANGELES – The body of a Hispanic woman who was reported missing was found at the bottom of a California aqueduct, authorities reported Tuesday.

The body of Missy Hernández, of 18 years old, was found last Sunday, reported this Tuesday at a press conference the Sheriff’s Department of the Fresno County, central California.

Hernandez had not been seen since December 7, 2021, when she left an art show in Fresno with her boyfriend, Ramón Jiménez.

The disappearance had been classified by the authorities as suspicious.

Last week, the County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of Jimenez, of 39 years. The man was accused of Hernandez’s murder even though the Latina’s body had not been found.

At the news conference, Fresno County Sheriff’s Department Chief Margaret Mims said detectives found “forensic and digital evidence” indicating some type of violent attack had taken place at Hernandez’s home.

Jiménez is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in a California court next March.

Nicole Linder, executive director of the Marjorie Mason Center, a shelter local for women victims of sexist violence, indicated that “the bravest thing you can do to save yourself is to tell someone: I need help”.2022
