The Houston Police Department, in Texas, confirmed the arrest of the ex-boyfriend of the Hispanic fifteen-year-old Diamond Álvarez, suspected of shooting her on at least 22 occasions for the back.
Frank de León, aged 17, was arrested last night and faces charges of murder.
The information was first disclosed by Univision 45. Later, authorities in Houston confirmed the news. The aforementioned chain also reported that the suspect allegedly had everything ready to escape and was carrying a suitcase when agents detained him.
“I already had everything ready to escape,” the young woman’s mother, Ana Machado, told the television channel.
To the girl, she was riddled with bullets last night 11 in January, on the block 45 of Park Manor Street, southwest of Houston. The young woman was walking her dog “Peanut” when she was intercepted by her attacker.
According to KHOU on Tuesday, Álvarez and De León had a romantic relationship. But, recently, the Hispanic woman found out that the suspect was being unfaithful to her.
On the night of the events, both had agreed to meet in a park near the girl’s home. The reason the young man gave him for the meeting is not clear. But it was at that moment that De León would have taken the life of the victim.
Diamond’s mother and stepfather went out to look for her, at around 9: 30 pm, after they heard gunshots in the area and realized that the minor’s pet returned home without her and with bloody paws.
Machado tried unsuccessfully to revive her daughter by administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
