When it seemed that Kevin Durant was making numbers to add a new regular season MVP, the unexpected happened. The confirmation of a sprain of the cruciate ligament of the left knee that will cause more than one headache in the Brooklyn Nets.

Durant’s injury occurred after a fortuitous collision with his teammate Bruce Brown against the Pelicans last Saturday when he tried to defend the New Orleans attack.

After the action, the 7 of the Nets went straight to the locker room and it was an MRI that confirmed the drop of the forward.

Although the team is positive about his return, it is speculated that his recovery will take between four to six weeks, so he would miss the All-Star Game -in which he was most likely going to be a starter- and the key stage of the Nets seeking classification.

Brooklyn’s currency is currently third in the Western Conference and is five games ahead of Washington, which is eighth and keeps the last place in the playoffs.

With the loss of the winner of 3 Olympic gold medals with the United States, the Nets will now have to put their hopes in the controversial Kyrie Irving and James Harden, the latter of whom has been rumored in recent days wanting to change the air for not feeling comfortable in the locker room.

This is not the first serious injury for Durant. In 2019, while playing for the Golden State Warriors, he tore the Achilles tendon in his right knee which put him out of action for over a year.
