As a heroine, a grandmother of 59 years will be remembered, who worked as a manager of Cracker Barrel in Texas, because she was murdered while trying to help a co-worker who was fleeing from a mugger.

Robin Baucom was shot dead on Saturday morning in the restaurant where he worked for the last 34 years after being shot in the torso. Although she was rushed to the hospital, she was in critical condition and later died, according to Harris County deputies.

According to KTRK, the incident occurred at a Cracker Barrel in North Freeway in Houston after a Buacom colleague arrived around 6: 15 am, chased by an alleged assailant.

Baucom, who was already inside, let his employee in and pushed the door to prevent the man enter to. However, the attacker pulled out a gun and shot the 59 year-old grandmother.

The woman is survived by a husband, three children and three grandchildren, and the identity of her co-worker has not been released.

Victim’s sister, Gail Baucom , said in an interview with KTRK that Robin worked at the restaurant for more than three decades and described it as Robin’s second home.

“She is our hero and we hope she will be remembered as a hero because he lost his life trying to protect his employees and Cracker Barrel. She always took care of business where she was needed,” Gail wrote of her sister, according to KPRC.

Baucom’s brother, Billy Crumpton, said: ‘The greatest love a person can have is to give his life for another person; and that’s exactly what she did.

Cracker Barrel acknowledged Baucom’s death in a statement issued to the media. While the store where the death occurred will be closed for at least a week and employees will be paid as usual, the company said.

For its part, the Harris County Sheriff , Ed Gonzalez, reported that the suspect in the murder of Robin Baucon was found by two officers, who shot him during his arrest.

The man, who had two open warrants for unrelated felonies , died at a hospital after being shot by officers, who will be temporarily placed on administrative leave, which is protocol for officers involved in a fatal shooting.
