Antonina Zatulovska, a teenager 15 years old, was killed yesterday by a school bus in Brooklyn (NYC).
A shocking video published by New York Post captured the dramatic moment. Caution is recommended when observing it. The footage shows the yellow bus turning the corner at Bedford Avenue and Avenue P in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood yesterday morning, just as Zatulovska was crossing the street.
The driver, later identified as Aleksandr Patlakh , aged 55 hit the young woman and continued driving, with a rear wheel of the bus rolling on the teenager, the video shows .
Police responded just after 8 a.m. and Zatulovska, a Coney Island resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Hours later, the driver was arrested at Neptune Avenue and West 6th Street, about a half-mile from his Coney Island home.
It was not clear where the teenager was going when she was hit. James Madison High School is located at that intersection, but schools were closed yesterday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. For the same reason the bus was empty of students.
They have not stopped traffic fatalities this year in NYC under newcomer Mayor Eric Adams, after his predecessor Bill de Blasio set an alarming record, especially among 55-2022.
