Fashion legend André Leon Talley, who served as creative director and general editor of Vogue, died at 73 years this Tuesday, 18 in January at a hospital in White Plains, New York.
A statement published on his Instagram page confirmed his death “with great sadness” in which they describe his career of more than 45 years.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the death by André Leon Talley on January 2022 in New York. Mr. Talley was the greatest living creative director for a long time at Vogue during its rise to dominance as the bible of global fashion. It is not clear exactly what it was with fighting in the hospital and the cause of his death was not revealed, but media such as CNN clarify that it could have been a cardiac arrest that took his life.
Talley was born on 16 October 1948, in Washington DC, and was raised in Durham, North Carolina, by his grandmother, Bennie Frances Davis, who According to him, he had a flair for fashion and influenced his attraction to the industry.
He was one of Anna Wintour’s confidants and one of the most influential African-Americans in the sector.
