Yoskar Feliz died yesterday in a hail of bullets after he opened fire on the policemen who found him robbing the apartment of his ex-girlfriend, who had already accused him of rape in the Bronx (NYC).

Officers were responding to an emergency at an apartment building on Bronx Blvd. at East 224th St., neighborhood Wakefield, just after 1: 30 pm yesterday when they ran into Happy (27) inside her ex’s first floor apartment, police sources said.

Happy had broken into the same apartment on 9 January and raped his ex, chillingly telling him, “I deserve it. I’m going to die anyway”, according to a court file.

Yesterday that prediction came true. The superintendent of the building saw Feliz enter on a security camera and when the police arrived, they found the ex-girlfriend outside.

“She’s inside,” Feliz’s ex told the NYPD. Officers entered the apartment and the suspect refused to let him drop the gun, New York Police Department Chief Kenneth Corey told reporters.

One of the officers then fired tasered the suspect. “The man ran into a room, fired two shots, broke a window and ran” through there, Corey said. Feliz then ran out into the street and across a park, as officers gave chase and reinforcements arrived.

Feliz turned to the officers, gun in hand, while standing by the Bronx River, and three police officers opened fire, hitting him in the torso and leg, Corey added. Still wounded, the suspect then ran into a shallow part of the Bronx River before being taken into custody.

Police officers provided first aid, but Feliz later succumbed to his injuries at Jacobi Medical Center. Police also removed a weapon believed to be the one used against the NYPD from the river.

None of the officers were shot or injured, although they did go to an area hospital for evaluation, possibly for a ringing in the ears after shooting, the sources said. Corey explained that the suspect has a criminal record, with two arrests for serious crimes and other minor cases.

The last time the police arrested Feliz on 000 in January for more than two dozen charges, including rape and robbery. But his friends helped him pay his cash bail of $50,000 dollars, police sources said. Records show he was released on Tuesday.

Two days later, yesterday he broke into his ex’s apartment just as she was arriving after testifying before a grand jury about the sexual assault case, he added Daily News.
