sergio-miter-will-face-a-sentence-of-40-to-60-years-in-prison-for-femicide

The Oral Trial Court of Saltillo has already reported on the verdict in the case of the Mexican-American Sergio Miter and he himself was guilty of femicide of Inés, a girl of one year and ten months. The former Major League pitcher will face a prison sentence of 40 to 60 years.

Inés, was the daughter of Miter from her previous partner and died in 2020 , after being confined in a children’s hospital. The cause of his death was hypovolemic shock derived from a renal artery laceration, although the doctors also found injuries from family violence. On the other hand, the injuries on her body were caused by her father.

On the other hand, Liliana, her previous partner and mother of the girl, was prosecuted and acquitted of the crime of filicide, while that Miter himself continued his trial in preventive detention at the Center for Social Rehabilitation (CERESO) of Saltillo and based on the evidence, the guilt of the Mexican-American was known.

Mitre, played eight seasons in Major League Baseball and during this time, he was part of the Chicago Cubs, Florida Marlins, New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers. In addition, he left an ERA of 5.21 in 143 commitments.

After knowing his guilt, Miter will spend the rest of his life behind bars because his sentence will not be less than 21 years, the same age as the Mexican-American. That is to say, if he meets the minimum time established, he will be 80 years old at that time.
