The return of Diego Lainez, from Spanish Real Betis, and Gerardo Arteaga, from Belgian Genk, stand out in Mexico’s squad to face Jamaica, Costa Rica and Panama, in the Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers.

The Argentine Gerardo “Tata” Martino, coach of Mexico, revealed this Thursday the call for the three games in which El Tri will seek to get closer to securing his ticket to the Qatar World Cup 2022.

Lainez has not played a game with Mexico since the friendly duel against Panama last 30 in June, and Arteaga hasn’t done so since the June match 12 against Honduras.

In addition to these footballers, among those chosen by Martino, players from LaLiga stand out like Orbelín Pineda and Néstor Araujo, from Celta de Vigo; Jesús “Tecatito” Corona, from Sevilla; Andrés Guardado, from Betis, and Héctor Herrera, from Atlético de Madrid.

Mexico will visit Jamaica on 21 January and will host Costa Rica at the Azteca stadium on 30 January, and Panama on February 2. The concentration will begin this Saturday in Mexico City.
