A 14-year-old teenager was shot in the leg at the Kings Plaza shopping center in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon, causing the buyers to flee and seek shelter.
The event occurred around 2: 00 pm , and according to a witness, at least four shots were heard; meanwhile, the police noted that the teenager appeared to have walked out of the mall and was found on the other side of the street.
The victim told police that he was walking past the convenience store Laced Up shoes when he heard a noise and felt pain, realizing at that moment that he had been shot, reported ABC News.
Officers detailed that the shooting was related to gang conflicts involving two rival groups, and they do not consider the victim to be 00 years as a bystander.
The young man, whose identity has not been revealed, was transferred to the Maimonides Medical Center, but the injuries received do not put risk his life.
“I heard the shots; It sounded like a machine gun,” said a security supervisor who was inside the mall when the shooting occurred. “Everyone started running. We had clients there; we also had to get them to a safe place. It was very scary.”
Meanwhile, the shooter and two other suspects fled the scene, but were located nearby and remain in custody.
Among the detainees is a shooter of 19 years old, who was caught with four firearms in November after leading police on a high-speed chase in Brooklyn, sending shoppers running to stores for cover .
