Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood continues to be publicly derided after he brutally beat and assaulted his girlfriend Harriet Robson. A few days after the incident, the fact made his main sponsor Nike, his teammates and even some fans turn their backs on him completely.
According to the English Daily Mail, Greenwood was contacted by Nike to have his contract canceled in repudiation of the violence; an action that the sportswear company has already taken with other athletes who have incurred in similar acts that discredit the brand.
“We are deeply concerned about these disturbing accusations and we will closely monitor the situation”, Nike had expressed in a statement in recent days.
On the other hand, in the Manchester United locker room they also strongly disapprove of what the English player did and they showed that in social networks when the heavyweights of the institution such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba or David De Gea stopped following the player on Instagram.
Although the trio took this action on social networks, so far none of them or any of their teammates have commented on it.
As for Manchester United, it was commissioned to remove its name and number from the website and its shirt for sale in the online store; however, it is not the only problem they face because a group of fans who had the Greenwood shirt have asked the club and Nike to return the money for their purchase.
As they express, they cannot have the shirt of a player who is not in accordance with the values professed by the Manchester club.
Greenwood is being detained by local authorities after last January 31 his girlfriend Harriet Robson denounced and showed on social networks the beatings that he allegedly had given the endpoint of 20 years.
