One thing is clear: NFTs are nothing more than the latest example of adapting a new technology that is currently in fashion and Justin Bieber is not willing to be left behind.
While posting some verses from one of his most famous songs at the moment, ‘Lonely’, the Canadian singer also surprised his fans by revealing his brand new acquisition after spending $1.29 millions of dollars in a ‘Bored Ape Yacht Club’ NFT worth three times less than what he paid for it.
“What if you had everything, but no one to call, maybe then you’d recognize me. ‘Cause I’ve had it all, but no one listens to me, and that’s fucking lonely. #lonelyboredape”, he captioned under the photo that appears a drawing of a monkey that seems to be crying and has not shaved in several days.
Bieber would have used 500 units of the virtual currency ‘Ethereum’ to acquire the work, although the price of original NFT market was 104 ETH or $208,237.
So by making this purchase, Justin now not only owns the artwork, but is an exclusive member of the ‘Bored Ape Yacht Club’ (BAYC) along with celebrities like Serena Williams, Paris Hilton, Jimmy Fallon , Eminem and Travis Barker.
It is unknown why the artist has made such an investment for this design. The singer may not have properly checked the oscillations of the virtual art market before making the payment or his cryptocurrency may have undergone significant changes at the last minute.
