lopez-obrador-assures-that-the-investigation-against-his-son-is-“open”-for-corruption-issues

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, affirmed that “the investigation is open” against his son José Ramón López Beltrán, who is being accused of a conflict of interest for having lived in Houston, Texas, in the house of a government contractor.

This Tuesday, during his usual morning press conference broadcast on his social networks, López Obrador stated that “the investigation is open, to see whose house it is, what contracts they received from Pemex (Petróleos Mexicanos), who authorized them. Well, they are not going to find anything, absolutely nothing, but (they made) the scandal”.

The Mexican president made special reference to the investigation by Latinus and Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity (MCCI). , which reported last Friday that López Beltrán lived in Houston in a property belonging to a senior executive of Baker Hughes, a Pemex contractor, according to the EFE news agency.

López Obrador asked the Colombia’s Attorney General’s Office to investigate, but warned “not to accumulate cases, because that also gives rise to the conservative press” criticizing his management.

“When it comes to who it is, even if they are my children, but I can tell you that we are not the same, we have principles, we have ideals. Yesterday Loret de Mola did not like how I defined it”, he pointed out.
