“Mommy, don’t kill me”, that was the desperate request of a girl in London, England, to her mother while she was strangling her in the family home.
Martina Madarova, from 41 years, was sentenced to five years in prison for the events.
Despite the cruel manner in which she killed Alijah Thomas, 5 , the judge considered that the woman bears little responsibility for the murder due to her mental condition and the alcohol addiction problem she suffers.
Madarova put the girl to watch cartoons before the reported attack on 14 last September.
Next, the adult strangled the minor and then covered the body with a blanket in the house in Ealing, west London.
The months before the attack, Relatives and friends of the convict expressed concern for her well-being and that of her daughter, since she seemed increasingly stressed.
The woman was worried about the drop in income after his work hours were reduced, as well as the deadline to enroll Allijah in school.
Another issue that aggravated his mental condition was the daily isolation due to the COVID-19, which led her to drink more alcohol than necessary.
The father of the minor, David Thomas, said in Court that Because of the mental problems she suffered from, Madarova was no longer the woman she had known.
“The week before Alijah’s death, I took four days to help her with school things and help Martina since it wasn’t her,” prosecutor Duncan Atkinson read QC quoted by the Daily Mail.
“It was clear that it wasn’t her. I was asking her to see a psychologist since she seemed depressed”, her father added.
“She was putting too much pressure on herself. During our discussions about things she would start crying and walk into another room,” Thomas recounted.
The prosecutor indicated that Madarova, born in Slovenia, drank two bottles of wine on the day of the events and told relatives who came to the scene the following: “She is not here more, I did it. I failed my daughter”.
