A transgender woman from Seattle has stated that she identifies spiritually and psychologically with a wolf.
Naia Ōkami, from years, in 2017 she declared herself a transgender woman on social networks and in November 2019 she revealed to her followers that she had legally changed her gender to female.
The young woman has stated that she identifies as a she-wolf from British Columbia and considers herself a therian otherkin, a subculture that believes that her soul is the of an animal, rather than that of a human.
Naia argues that although she sometimes barks and howls like a wolf, she is aware that she is physically human and maintains a “serious job” while “spiritually expressing” herself as an animal.
In an appearance on This Morning, Naia explained that during the day she works as an online researcher for a non-profit organization, but that from time to time she ‘roams like a wolf’ on the forest to connect with his animal psyche.
“I don’t physically believe he’s a wolf,” he said. “It is more of a spiritual and psychological identification as a wolf, as if I am fully aware that I am human… but in the same way, spiritually I am a wolf.”
He points out that many people have a wrong idea that she believes that she is physically a wolf, which she is not. “I have a serious job, I pay my bills and taxes, this is how I express myself spiritually.”, he commented.
The young woman said that from an early age she discovered that she identified as an animal, revealing that she began researching real-life wolves after constantly “sleeping” the animal. It was in 2013 when Naia made her first public appearance as a wolf on TV.
“I am a wolf from British Columbia “, He said. ‘It started with the change of sleep. It was then that I had a dream of myself as a wolf and I was able to see myself in some of these dreams. I could see myself as an observer, in some of these dreams I was acting like a wolf”.
Naia explained that later she began to look at real wolves, and began to identify more and more that way. In addition, she points out that her identity as a wolf manifests itself in her daily life as she tries to connect her regular activities with her spirituality.
“One of the things I do with a non-profit organization is to investigate child trafficking and predators and I always make the joke that, as a wolf, I am hunting my prey”, he explained.
The young woman concludes that while she will not act like a wolf in ordinary life , appearances in various media in the United States have allowed her to express herself more freely because people know her as the ‘wolf girl’.
