man-with-cancer-and-covid-marries-his-longtime-girlfriend-in-the-hospital-and-dies-2-days-later

Just two days before his death, a 75-year-old cancer patient who contracted covid was able to marry his longtime girlfriend inside the hospital life, a woman of 74 years old, whom he had divorced decades ago after marrying for the first time.

The past 24 January, the hospital rang wedding bells for elderly couple Eddie and Patty, from Las Vegas, Nevada.

This love story began many years ago, it was in the decade of 1970 when the couple married for the first time, however, after only a year together, they separated and each went their own way.

Eddie and Patty had little contact for a long time. Their reunion took place just five years ago when Patty sent a message to Eddie on his birthday.

“Happy birthday to my favorite ex-husband”, was the message sent by her and with which he became to ignite their romance. They decided to get together for dinner and it didn’t take long for the flame of love to light up again.

Unfortunately, in October of last year Eddie was diagnosed with cancer. Later he developed bacterial pneumonia and became infected with covid so he had to be taken to the ICU.

The 24 Last January, Eddie texted Patty asking her to marry him, to which she replied yes.

Due to the fact that the man’s health could not carry out the wedding next to each other, they looked for other alternatives. Learning of his plans, MountainView Hospital decided to make an exception for the ceremony and the two were officially married in the room where Eddie was staying.

The room was decorated with artificial flowers and they wrote ‘Just Married ‘ on the wall. And the hospital’s chief of medicine, Dr. Jacqueline King, acted as a witness for the couple.

An officiant read their vows to them and pronounced them husband and wife from behind a glass door, which was kept ajar so they could hear.

However, this story did not have a happy ending as Eddie passed away two days after the ceremony, with his family by his side.
