Aldi, the discount supermarket chain, announced that it has an aggressive growth plan in 2022 and will open approximately 150 new stores nationwide.
The brand remains on track to become the third largest grocery retailer in the United States by the end of this year.
The retail chain announced through a bulletin, that in the last decade it has opened more than 1,000 new stores and have been favored by customers across the country for their fast and affordable shopping experience.
As Aldi expands in the Southeast, the company will look to Louisiana as its 38th state of operations, when he welcomes shoppers to his Lafayette store on February 10.
Aldi plans to open two more supermarkets on the Gulf Coast in early March, along with 20 additional stores across the region by the end of the year.
“There’s nothing like seeing shoppers discover Aldi for the first time,” said Jason Hart, CEO from ALDI US “There is a surprise moment when they realize how much they can save by shopping with us. I can’t wait to share that experience with more customers as we add new stores throughout the Southeast.”
For reinforce its growth in the area, Aldi will also open a new regional distribution center for 564,000 square feet in Loxley, Alabama later this year. The facility will eventually support up to 150 new stores throughout Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle.
Aldi noted that it will increase access to its products through better online shopping options and also expand its Curbside Grocery Pickup offering, moving from 1,200 to 1,500 stores by the end of the year.
“Whether in store or online, the mission of Aldi is to make shopping as convenient and affordable as possible,” the statement says.
