Banks in Europe are taking precautions against a possible cyber attack coordinated by the Government of Vladimir Putin, including in US banking institutions.

“The European Central Bank (ECB) has already told banks to conduct cyber warfare training to test their ability to defend against a possible attack”, according to a Daily Mail report.

Adds that Putin’s goal would be to generate financial chaos, in the middle of the threat to invade Ukraine, since if they did, the United States and NATO members threatened with economic sanctions against Russia.

“Experts fear that Putin will attack first and try to disrupt the economic structures of the West”, it is added.

The ECB is directed by former French minister Christine Lagarde.

“(That institution) has already diverted its attention from regular scams to cyberattacks launched from Russia,” revealed a fu sent to the Mail.

The same alert has been sent to the security chiefs of US banks before the fear of the “coordinated attack”.

It is cited, for example, that the New York Department of Financial Services also issued an alert to financial institutions at the end of January warning of cyber attacks.
