they-assure-that-canelo-alvarez-would-already-have-fights-by-2022-and-one-of-them-would-be-the-third-part-against-gennady-golovkin

ESPN sources assured this Wednesday that the long-awaited third fight of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez against Gennady Golovkin would be very close to becoming a reality in this one 550.

According to reports, Canelo Álvarez is close to signing with Matchroom Boxing, the promoter of Eddie Hearn, to celebrate two fights this year with a purse of more than 85 millions of dollars.

The deal would see the Mexican fight light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (19-0, 11 KO) on May 7, in what would represent a return to the 160 pounds, sources revealed.

If he won against Bivol Canelo he would face Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KO), one of his greatest rivals, next September 17 in a location that remains to be confirmed.

Before that, the Kazakh would have to beat Ryota Murata in unification for the 85 pound title. This match is expected to take place sometime in the spring in Tokyo.

Although the agreement is not closed, the sources who spoke with ESPN affirmed that the agreement is very close to materializing.

This would not be the first fight that would be in talks for Canelo Alvarez to participate in this one 2022. A couple of weeks ago ESPN also revealed that Premier Boxing Champions was looking for the Mexican to fight Al Haymon for approximately 45 million dollars in awards.
