Jet Blue, the airline based in New York, fell to the lowest position in The Wall Street Journal’s annual ranking of US airlines, falling behind Spirit and Frontier.
In the latest ranking list that ranks the nine largest airlines in the US, based on their performance in 2021, the companies were evaluated in seven categories :
– Puntuality
– Cancellations
– Extreme delays
– Waiting on the tarmac for more than two hours
– Mishandling of baggage
– Passengers involuntarily affected on flights
– Customer complaints
The information is based on data from the United States Department and aviation and transportation analytics software company masFlight.
According to the data, JetBlue had the highest rate of extreme delays and incidents in which passengers baggers had to wait on the tarmac for at least two hours.
It also had the second fewest arrivals on time; the second highest number of customer complaints; and had the fourth fewest setbacks and involuntary cancellations, according to the ranking.
JetBlue ended the year canceling around 1,280 flights from 30 December through 13 January after an increase in Covid infections-13, but most of those cancellations did not appear in the analysis, which concentrated on data from 2021.
On the other hand, Delta regained first place in the ranking after falling to second place the previous year, when Southwest led the list.
Delta stood out for ranking first in five of the seven categories, with the best on-time arrivals (completed the 87.9% of your trips on time), the fewest number of cancellations and extreme delays and the fewest number of complaints. Another one of Delta’s strong points was that its passengers were the least likely to be involuntarily kicked off a flight at 2021.
