According to information released by La Nación, the Argentine who lives in a town of 13,000 inhabitants, bought a thermos on the Internet and, for said purchase, became an automatic participant in a promotion that allowed him to win the van produced by Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company.
The campaign was launched by the e-commerce portal Tiendamia, which, through At the end of last year, it launched the raffle with the aim of promoting access to products and offers from different stores around the world that are not available in the South American country.
The raffle, valid until December 31, did not require any obligation purchase to participate, but when making a purchase of any product (regardless of its price) the site added 10 extra opportunities to win.
In this way, the winner automatically participated after buying the thermos and unaware that he was participating in a raffle.
Luck was on the side of the Argentine and favored him with the prize, but since he was unaware of the campaign , when he received the call from Tiendamia in which he was notified that he had won the truck, he felt very scared, since he had previously been the victim of a telephone scam.
Given his mistrust, the Argentine threatened to take legal action against the company and refused to enter the draw link for fear that it was a virus to steal information.
The sister of the winner contacted the representatives of the organizing company and checked the contest rules and conditions.
When verifying that everything was in order and that everything was legal, the man accepted the prize, although with one caveat: instead of asking for the car, he preferred to collect the equivalent in cash.
Finally, the protagonist of the story said that he would invite the organizers of the draw to a barbecue, that he would buy thermoses for his whole family and that he would use the money for home repairs and equipment.
