A Missouri man was accused of murdering his neighbor and watching her house burn down after they had an argument over a fence between their properties.
Pavel Samsinak, aged 48, was found guilty by a state jury that deliberated for less than an hour to reach its verdict, the defendant could face life in prison for the second degree murder charge.
Springfield Police and Fire Departments responded to an emergency call notifying them of a residence engulfed in flames on 21 September 2020, there they found the deceased body of Alice Hale, of 66 years, according to a press release.
Samsinak, owner of a now-closed Springfield personal training gym called Czech Us Out, was arrested three days later and charged with second-degree murder, i Second degree arson, armed criminal action, and tampering with physical evidence.
According to court documents obtained by the Springfield News-Leader, during last week’s trial, it was revealed that Samsinak and Hale they argued over a fence between their vacant lot and Hale’s house.
“The argument reportedly stemmed from a dispute over whether the fence had been built on the side of Hale’s property line. Samsinak or Hale,” the website states.
After their argument, Samsinak hit Hale, a janitor at retired elementary school, killing her with a baseball bat, then set her house on fire and watched it burn from the parking lot of a nearby store, details News-Leader.
The defendant, who is a native of the Czech Republic according to his Facebook, he is being held without bond in the Greene County Jail and is scheduled to appear for sentencing on of May .
