Google Maps images shared on Reddit by a user show some masked subjects on a highway in Sonora, Mexico.
The photos, which went viral, show four subjects with creepy masks.
Men are seen on the Moctezuma – Nacozari highway; two were seen on one side of the road, and the others on the opposite side.
One of the men wore the mask of the character from the horror movie “Scream”. Next to him, another individual is seen wearing a “La Parca” wrestling mask. A third was dressed as a werewolf, and the fourth as a scarecrow with a red balaclava and torn hat.
An introduction to the image reads: “I just found the masked guys in Mexico”.
The shared content sparked speculation about its origin.
Several of the comments alluded to alleged members of a drug cartel.
However, to date there is no information to rule out or confirm this hypothesis.
