The captain and defender of Palmeiras, the Paraguayan Gustavo Gómez, affirmed this Friday that the Brazilian team “will leave everything” on the pitch when they face the English Chelsea on Saturday in the final of the Club World Cup that takes place in the United Arab Emirates United.

“We will deliver everything as we always did. We know how important the match is for us, for the fans and for Palmeiras. But you can rest easy because we will leave everything on the field”, Gómez declared in a press conference granted in Abu Dhabi, the Emirati capital and which will host the final.

Gómez, one of the bastions of the defense in the conquest of the last two Copa Libertadores titles, he also referred to the scoring power of the Belgian Romelu Lukaku, scorer of the goal in the semifinal that put the London team in dispute for the title.

“It’s not just him (Lukaku) who is good, Chelsea have a very strong cast as everyone knows. But we are working, day by day, to prepare the match as it should be”, the Paraguayan stressed.

The defender also highlighted the contribution of the players from the lower divisions, who joined the of more experience to reach the current level of the “green” team of Sao Paulo.

“Palmeiras has many leaders who help a lot, but the motivation comes from being in Palmeiras and from the greatness of the club. We are very happy to have many young players with us because more than 50 % of the players have between 20 and 25 years and that is a pride for us and for the fans”, he pointed out Gomez.

Palmeiras, one of the most successful teams in Brazil, reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup after beating Egyptian Al-Ahly, African champions, 2-0, while Chelsea, the last winner of the of European Champions, beat the Saudi Al-Hilal, Asian monarch, by a tight 0-1.
