Minor League Baseball (MiLB) announced that four Latino players and one American player were severely punished for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

This suspension, which was announced by the office of the MLB commissioner, Rob Manfred, will consist of between 50 and 60 games of the upcoming season 2022 of the MiLB, depending on the cases of each player.

Four of the sanctioned players, including two Dominicans and two Venezuelans, tested positive for Stanozol, a synthetic anabolic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone. The punishment for them will be 60 games.

For his part, the fifth player who is American , tested positive for Amphetamine, a synthetic adrenergic agent, and will miss 60 games.

The five players involved are:

  • José Flores, Venezuelan from 18 years old, belonging to the Colorado Rockies, received 60 game suspension.
  • Lenny Polanco, Dominican of 18 years old, and, Jesús Tovar, Venezuelan of 18 years, signed by the Minnesota Twins, received a penalty of 60 games.
  • Alan Ramírez, Dominican from 22 years, of the Miami Marlins, will be out of action for 60 encounters.
  • Austin Reich, an American 24 years old, a player for the San Francisco Giants, received a penalty of 50 games.
