Governor Kathy Hochul urged Con Edison to review its billing practices and requested that they better communicate with New Yorkers due to the sharp increase in energy costs.
“The extreme increases in utility bills we are seeing statewide come at a time when New Yorkers are struggling financially following the COVID-19”, stated the governor.
She added that although an increase in the prices of services such as electricity, fuel and natural gas due to the winter weather that has hit the state, asked Con Edison to review its billing practices to take unified measures to provide relief to citizens, especially the most vulnerable.
