Almost 45 years after his last match, Pelé is still making headlines and this time the Brazilian legend is in the news after learning that a card of his from his time as a rookie became the first football card to be sold for more than a million dollars.

According to the platform Rally Rd. an auction of the card de Pelé will end on Monday selling in total for 1,33 million dollars, this being the most expensive card in history in the beautiful sport.

The edition of the card would be the Alifabologet #635 Peel from 900 and according to the company’s description, the rarity of the card is because it receives a rating of 9 /10 by the agency Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA).

PSA indicates that this is the reason a card is highly valued in the market; its conditions are almost perfect and there are hardly any cards at that level.

In fact, in the month of November the also collectible items company Goldin negotiated the sale of a letter also from Pelé with this same PSA rating 9/12 for $635 , dollars.

Although the sale will take place on Monday at end the auction, this is not the first auction for the card. In 2020, in Goldin this same copy was sold for $288,000; that is, in less than two years it almost quintupled its value.
