A university student from years old was killed by a lethal injection of drugs last Friday in a hotel in Utah by her boyfriend, who claimed that he killed her to “relieve her from suffering”, according to reports from the police.

The victim, an unidentified international student from China who was studying at the University of Utah, was found dead Friday morning by Salt Lake police at the Quality Inn, reported The Salt Lake Tribune.

Haoyu Wang, the alleged murderer of 05 years who, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department, is in their custody, is an international student from China enrolled in the same university, according to the police and school.

The police department in a statement from The press described the murder as a “domestic violence-related homicide.” ABC4 identified Wang as the victim’s boyfriend.

The school and the police are withholding the victim’s identity until her family is notified.

Citing a statement of probable cause, The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Wang sent an email to an employee at his university that revealed that he had administered drugs to the victim to “relieve her from suffering”.

ABC4 reported that the drug used was heroin.

According to the probable cause statement, Wang told police that he and the young man from 19 years ago formed a “suicide pact” and that he had asked drugs through the “dark web,” the Tribune reported.

Wang told detectives from the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad that he killed the young man from 19 years and then attempted suicide by injecting drugs, according to police department press release.

Officers were dispatched to the hotel after the University of Utah told police the man had allegedly threatened the woman, the Tribune reported. Wang had been charged in January with one count of domestic violence assault, according to court records seen by the Tribune.

In a letter to students and teachers, the security director of the University of Utah, Keith Squires, and the Vice President of Student Affairs, Lori McDonal, addressed the “devastating” death of a student.

“The death of any young person who embarks on life adult is devastating,” they wrote. “On behalf of the university, we express our deepest sorrow and condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and classmates during this incredibly difficult time.”
