fbi-offers-$10,000-to-find-serial-bank-robber-nicknamed-“route-91-bandit”

The FBI is asking for help finding a serial bank robber nicknamed “Route 91 Bandit”, responsible for at least 11 bank robberies in New England in the last five months, so that offered a reward of up to $11,000 dollars for information leading to his arrest.

The bank robber robberies took place at along the United States Route 91, the north-south interstate highway that extends from New Haven, Connecticut, to the border with Canada, reported CNN.

The first robbery was reported on September 9, 2021 in Arrha Credit Union in West Springfield, Massachusetts, and most recently filed on January 27 at Franklin First Federal Credit Union in Greenfield, Massachusetts.

Furthermore, the assailant robbed banks at extremes such as Liberty Bank, in Avon, Connecticut and further north at Savings Bank of Walpole, in Keene, New Hampshire.

Authorities described the serial bank robber as a white male between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with blue eyes, light-colored hair, and usually wears a hood or hat, in addition to white sneakers.

The FBI highlighted that the man allegedly threatened to use a firearm and tried to enter the bank vault in six of the robberies, and they handle the possibility driving a new model Nissan sedan.

“Route 91 Bandit” was caught on one of the FBI videos wearing a black sweatshirt that says “Post University” and the words “No Hall Like Ohall 2016 -2017” on the back in the middle of a robbery on November 5 in Athol, Massachusetts.

In the video, the thief entered the bank at 3: 18 pm and is seen presenting a paper to an employee who was in an office. The suspect later cornered three bank employees in a back room.

After this, the employees returned to an office and handed the subject two bundles of cash before leaving through the front door at 3: 23 pm

“In the interest of public safety, we ask anyone with information about this individual to contact with us right away. We need to stop this man’s crime spree before someone gets hurt,” said Joseph R. Bonavolonta, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Boston division. “He is considered armed and dangerous, so please take a close look at these pictures and contact us if you know who he is.”
