A man in Israel won 80 million new shekels or $25 million dollars in the lottery in his first play.
Times of Israel reported that the man from the center of the country matched six of the 37 numbers on the ticket to get his fortune.
The winner decided to play in the lottery for the first time when seeing the high amount that was drawn.
The $80 million new shekels is considered the largest jackpot in the history of the country.
“I saw commercials for the jackpot and decided, for the first time in my life, to fill out a lottery ticket,” he told the aforementioned medium. “The moment I saw the winning numbers, I knew they looked familiar. I felt a kind of light that I cannot explain”, described the interviewee, whose identity has not been revealed.
When choosing the numbers, the lucky man revealed that he did not give him any mind and that he just followed the basic rules that were explained to him moments before.
“I was in a hurry, so I invented a ‘method’ quickly and I only dialed a primary number and let the machine select the rest of the numbers on each line”, he detailed.
“I’m not really sure what I did, but it certainly worked”, he added .
When he found out he won, he woke up his wife to share the news.
“I whispered in my wife’s ear and told her that we had won the lottery. That was how I lifted it from her. She didn’t understand at first…despite how late it was, I immediately called my close family to tell them the news. I couldn’t sleep. The adrenaline wouldn’t let me. My wife and I sat in the room and talked until 6 am”, he recalled.
Despite the emotion, the winner did not go immediately to claim the prize, but went to his I work the next day and redeemed the ticket on the afternoon of Sunday, February 6.
The draw was held earlier this month.
