the-irs-launches-special-page-with-details-and-information-for-the-2022-tax-return

This tax season, taxpayers face a series of problems due to the changes in the tax law that took place in 2021. For this reason, the IRS created a web page, with the intention that users become aware of these issues and have the most recent and timely information.

The page will provide an overview of the information to help people who file tax returns, as well as those who have prior year tax returns waiting to be processed by the IRS.

“We want people to have an easy way to to view the latest information. This new page provides a one-stop shop for the latest key information for individuals and the tax community,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig.

The “tax season special alerts” page will be available through the IRS.gov home page and will include the latest updates from filing season, as well as links to important information related to the IRS’s ongoing efforts to address the inventory of unprocessed tax returns filed prior to this year.

“The combination of the pandemic, new tax laws, and many other factors led to an unprecedented number of unprocessed tax returns and correspondence remaining in IRS inventory for 2021,” Rettig said. .

“These steps are making a difference. Refunds for tax returns and amended tax returns in inventory continue to flow to taxpayers,” said the commissioner.

The IRS encourages taxpayers to review their returns to make sure they are accurate and file them electronically with direct deposit to speed up refunds.

The agency reminds that special advice is available in several places in the IRS .gov, including Top 5 Tips to Remember; Tax Season Basics 2022; and the Tax Season Guide.
