Julio César Chávez is once again in the eye of the storm. They have again questioned the “Great Mexican Champion” for his past and drug use. A few months ago Jorge “El Travieso” Arce was the first to attack Chávez, now it was Marco Antonio Barrera, but the “César del Boxeo” did not hesitate to answer him.
Barrera made some controversial statements in a recent interview. The former Mexican boxer questioned those who consider that Saúl Álvarez does not have what it takes to be an idol. In the midst of his arguments, “El Barreta” considers that Canelo’s quiet life is not something that attracts Mexican fans. As a counterpart, Barrera gave Julio César Chávez as an example: “drug addict, drunk, and abuser”.
“(Canelo) is the opposite of what people celebrate. That we see him (Chavez) as an idol because he was a drug addict, because we see him as an idol because he hit people, that we see him as an idol because he used to go up drunk to fight,” Barrera explained in an interview with Roberto Martínez.

The “Great Mexican Champion” did not stay with Barrera’s criticism. As happened with Jorge “El Travieso” Arce, Chávez used social networks to respond to the former boxer’s statements. The word of the “Caesar of Boxing” was widely spread and accepted among his followers.
