video-on-tiktok-shows-how-walmart-packages-high-cost-steaks-with-chains-so-they-don't-get-stolen

A TikTok video revealed the Walmart chain’s strategy to apparently prevent theft of high-cost steaks: secure them inside metal boxes.

A Michael Fromhold, from Florida, thought it was a joke to see a piece of Angus beef under insurance at a Walmart.

The video, which achieved 4 million views in a couple of days, shows the customer with the item in hand.

The meat is packed with chains and a electronic security tag.

“You have to be kidding me”, starts Fromhold in the video while holding the package.

“Now Walmart has the steak in jail. Cara , this has come. This is getting bad”, expresses the consumer.

It is not clear if the company is “grilling” the meat in all its stores in the United States or only in establishments located in areas of high crime incidence.

The company has not expressed itself in relation to this finding.

In New York, less than a week ago, the administrators of the Gristedes supermarket chain increased their security after security camera images of a Trader Joe’s in Manhattan caught a man stealing packages of meat from the store.

In the case of Catsimatidis, those in charge indicated that incidents of this type have increased between 40 to 40 % in recent months.

Along with the pandemic, the crisis in the supply chain has caused shortages of several products, including meat.
