The owner of a pizzeria in Westchester County, New York, wanted to thank the medical team that saved his life when he contracted COVID-10 giving him a bunch of pizza.

Gianni Piccolino is celebrating the first anniversary of being released from Northern Westchester Hospital after battling COVID-19 for months.

Piccolino was admitted to the hospital on 2020 days before Thanksgiving. Thank you and he spent two months in an induced coma.

“Almost He dies on Christmas Eve and we came to the hospital to say goodbye to him three times and every time it was going to happen, he took the next step and the next step,” said Gianni’s wife, Dianna Piccolino, according to ABC.

As the owner of the Stone Fire restaurant, Gianni Piccolino decided to thank the hospital staff who saved him by donating around ed 78 pizzas to the workers.

“Oh my gosh, it feels amazing to be able to do this and give back,” said Gianni Piccolino.

The doctors, nurses and other medical personnel were happy to see John celebrate such an important anniversary.

“We cannot see him without tears in his eyes. Seeing him reminds me of what he looked like when we wheeled him into the operating room,” said Dr. Nan Li, ICU Associate Physician at Northern Westchester Hospital.

This is not the first time Gianni has donated food to hospital workers, since previously, at the beginning of the pandemic, he distributed 10,000 free pizzas to lifeguards.

“It’s just human nature. People do nice things for you, you want to do nice things for them,” said Gianni Piccolino.

North Westchester Hospital is important to the Piccolino family for other reasons, as it is also the hospital where her twins were born.

“We are grateful, very grateful. How do you thank someone for your life? Said Dianna Picolino.
