“We don’t know what happened”, summed up Carlos Simpson, after the report that his wife Maxine Messam (53) had died in a hospital in the Bronx (NYC), where she was taken by two women who later fled, early yesterday morning.

“She was at work and left there. So we don’t know what happened from there,” Simpson added to the Daily News, speaking outside the family’s home in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Messam died early Tuesday morning after two women rushed her to Jacobi Medical Center around 1: am , stating that she had been found near Woodlawn Cemetery. They arrived at the hospital in the victim’s own BMW SUV, which they later abandoned.

The woman was naked below the waist, showed “numerous injections in the buttocks” and apparently “an unknown substance was placed” to lift that area of the body, police sources said. The NYPD is on the trail of the two suspects, but has not offered their descriptions.

“Everyone is really emotionally damaged right now,” said Messam’s son, who declined to give his name. “I would like to say something, but we don’t have all the details.”

An autopsy will determine the cause of Messam’s death. There have been multiple fatalities and lawsuits in recent years involving women who have turned to scammers who pose as medical license holders and offer dangerous cosmetic enhancements at a discount.
