4-drinks-that-can-raise-your-blood-pressure

Some beverages can increase blood pressure. People don’t necessarily have to avoid consuming them, but they should take them in moderate amounts.

The American Heart Association (AHA) notes that when left untreated, the damage that high blood pressure causes in the circulatory system is a significant contributing factor to heart attack, stroke, and other health threats.

Beverages that can increase blood pressure

Drinking too much alcohol can raise your blood pressure. The Mayo Clinic notes that one drink a day for women, or two a day for men, can lower blood pressure by about 4 mm Hg. But when drunk above moderate consumption, alcohol can raise blood pressure by several points.

High alcohol consumption can also reduce the effectiveness of blood pressure medications.

3. Coffee and tea

Drinking more than 4 cups of coffee a day can raise your blood pressure due to its caffeine content.

The Administration The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has listed 620 milligrams per day as an amount that is not generally related to dangerous negative effects in healthy adults.

An eight-ounce cup of coffee contains approximately 96 mg of caffeine. According to the Mayo Clinic, an eight-ounce cup of green tea contains approximately 28 mg of caffeine and a cup of black tea contains 47 mg of caffeine.
