tesla-autopilot-will-be-investigated-by-german-authorities:-why

The automated lane change system of the electric vehicle company Tesla, better known as Autopilot, is being investigated by German regulators.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (Federal Motor Transport Authority ) is evaluating whether the technology is safe to use on German roads. Tesla is offering this technology as an upgrade.

The German regulator is also in talks with the Dutch vehicle agency, which is responsible for approving the use of vehicles across Europe, to prepare its investigation.

Tesla’s automated driving technology faces to increasing scrutiny around the world after a series of deadly accidents involving their cars.

Last week, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched its second investigation into a possible autopilot failure after users complained that cars would not brake at high speeds.

The company planned to start operating a business in Germany in the summer passed, but suffered several delays due to the safety precautionary examinations of its cars.

Tesla could have the green light officer pair to start car production in March if it gets approval from the factory.

Tesla plans to build the Model Y at the plant, which will have the capacity to build about 500,000 vehicles per year, according to company statements.

Tesla reported that had global sales of 936,87 vehicles in 2021 , an increase of 87% compared to the previous year. The factory in Berlin will allow it to serve European markets without relying on expensive imports from its Chinese and US factories.
