In March of 2020, the Government of former President Donald Trump implemented the Title 42, a health regulation due to the COVID-pandemic 19 that has allowed the federal government to expel thousands of immigrants expeditiously.
Only in the last year, almost a million non-citizens were prosecuted under this policy that President Joe Biden promised to end, but which he has defended even in court, causing annoyance among immigrant advocates.
Journalist Felipe de la Hoz, who has written for The Intercept, The Nation, The New Republic, and is a co-founder of Border/Lines, explains how this program started and how it has become a problem for President Biden.
