george-w.-bush-rejects-the-“unjustified-attack”-against-ukraine

Former United States President George W. Bush (2001-2009) condemned the attack on Thursday “unjustified” against Ukraine and considered that “authoritarian harassment” and the “danger” posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot be tolerated.

In a statement, Bush affirmed that the Government and the American people must show their solidarity with Ukraine in the “pursuit of its freedom” and “the right to choose its own future”.

“We cannot tolerate authoritarian harassment and the danger that Putin poses . Ukraine is our democratic friend and ally and deserves our full support during this very difficult time”, he asserted.

Bush also joined the voices of other world leaders who have considered that the Russian attack “constitutes the most serious security crisis on the European continent since World War II.”

The statements by Bush, from the Republican Party, contrast with the tone used by former President Donald Trump (2009-2017), from the same political force and who yesterday praised Putin and criticized the response of the current US president, Democrat Joe Biden.
