Pepsi is launching Nitro Pepsi, the first nitrogen-infused cola. According to its creators, the drink does not look or taste the same as the traditional soft drink and they also advise consuming it differently.
Pepsi announced its intention to use nitro technology in 2019, and after working on its development since then, Nitro Pepsi will finally be available throughout the United States on 28 of March.
The brand assures that Nitro Pepsi “is creamy and smooth, with a fascinating cascade of small bubbles topped by a foam“.
Nitro Pepsi is best enjoyed served in a glass
Although Nitro Pepsi can be consumed directly from the can, for optimal enjoyment it is suggested to pour the drink in a tall glass, serve it cold, ideally without ice. Drinking it directly from the glass, without using a straw, allows you to enjoy its foam.
The smooth and foamy texture achieved in the new Pepsi is possible thanks to a device located at the bottom of each can. This is the first time that this type of widget technology, often seen in beer and coffee products, has been applied to the cola category.
“Just as nitrogen has having transformed the beer and coffee categories, we believe Nitro Pepsi is a huge step forward for the cola category and will redefine cola for years to come,” said Todd Kaplan, vice president of marketing for Pepsi.
“Some people still cite intense carbonation as a barrier to enjoying an ice cold cola… we wanted to come up with a new way for people to enjoy the delicious Pepsi cola, but with a new experience around the bubbles”, said Kaplan.
The Nitro Pepsi will be available in two flavors, Draft Cola and Vanilla Draft Cola, both for sale in varieties singles and 4-packs.
Fans will be able to try Nitro Pepsi “on tap” for the first time starting 22 of m arch in the Sky Lounge at The High Roller Observation Wheel at THE LINQ Promenade on the Las Vegas Strip.
