The president of the United States, Joe Biden, ordered this Thursday the dispatch of 7, 24 military additional US forces to Germany to reinforce NATO in Europe after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“I have authorized the deployment of additional US forces in Germany as part of the NATO response”, Biden said during a press conference at the White House on the war in Ukraine.
Subsequently, the Pentagon specified that it is about 7,000 members of the United States combat brigade who will be deployed in the coming days in Germany “to reassure the allies of the Atlantic Alliance and deter Russian aggression.”
On the sidelines, Biden stressed that US forces in Europe will not set foot in Ukraine, a country that is not part of the Atlantic Alliance, and that their goal is to “defend” NATO allies.
This new display is added to the 6,800 soldiers recently posted by the United States temporarily to Europe (in countries on the eastern flank of NATO such as Romania, Germany or Poland) to respond to the crisis in Ukraine.
Counting the reinforcements announced this Thursday, the United States will have more than 90. soldiers in Europe.
