Anonymous declared cyber war on the Russian authorities, after President Vladimir Putin announced his decision to carry out “a special military operation” to defend the inhabitants of Donbass early Thursday morning.
“The Anonymous collective is officially in a cyber war against the Russian government”, reads the publication of the group of cyber activists on its Twitter account.
The group of hackers said being responsible for the disabling of the English RT channel and Russian RT channel web pages, which could not be accessed around 2: 30 hours (GMT). He also stated that he attacked “several” Russian government websites.
A series of posts about his “operations against the Russian Federation” appeared on another Twitter account also attributed to the hacker collective and which has more than 6 million followers.
“There is inevitability that the private sector will most likely also be affected“says one of the tweets. “We, as a collective, just want peace in the world. We want a future for all humanity. So, while people around the world are tearing up their Internet providers, understand that this is totally aimed at the actions of the Russian government and Putin”, he stressed.
In a bulletin of the 24 of February, the Russian National Coordination Center for Computer Incidents classified as “critical” the possibility of a threat of cyber attacks in the Russian information space .
A day earlier, the agency warned of an increase in the intensity of computer attacks against Russian information resources, including some critical information infrastructure in the context of Russia’s special military operation to defend Donbass.
